I drove to work this morning at an elementary school that has zero pull-through parking. All the spots are along the perimeter of the building. I have been there before and I knew that when I left, the whole school would be surrounded by the line of cars waiting to pick up kids. So, I decided to back into the stall so I wouldn’t have to back out and navigate around the cars.
Keith always says it is very weird not having a backup camera when he drives the convertible. I just don’t back up, so it doesn’t bother me. Today, it was weird. I really avoid backing up – I pull through as often as I can. Apparently, I do look at the backup camera, because, man, was I missing it today. I just pulled in backwards, having no idea where I was going, but also having no one around me, so it didn’t matter. I opened the door and peeked out. I seemed to be straddling a line. I pulled forward, adjusted, readjusted because I adjusted the wrong direction and tried again. I peeked. I was pretty close! Pretty close wasn’t good enough. I pulled forward, adjusted, readjusted, and tried again. BAM! I was in. I was very proud of myself. I was sooooo happy I had done it when I easily pulled out and navigated around the parents’ cars at the end of the day.
Thatβs what mirrors are for.
I didn’t see the ground
Oh, I had to do it again. I had to move my head to see the ground πππ I did so better today
I want a car with one of those bird’s eye view cameras for parking. I don’t think I’ll be getting it any time soon, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting it! Maybe I could just train some actual birds to hold mirrors for me . . . . .
Snow White had helper birds decades ago. No reason not to get helper birds now!
