We went to our friend Liam’s band concert tonight. It was really nice. We enjoyed playing “find Liam” among the 100ish players. He plays saxophone, so of course we were scanning the center of the band – the saxophone area. I found him first – back by the low brass! Of course, he plays bari sax!
They are playing the Jurassic Park theme in this picture and I am grinning ear to ear listening to it. I love that music; I love that movie. All of the tunes that they played were good – there was a multi-movement piece called Time Travelers, and each movement was in a different meter. Time travelers! I loved the fact that there were ten different percussion parts – no one doubling anyone else. Kudos to composers who write for young bands.
Music education forever!!! Great to see some little tuba players in the back, too!!!
Yes! And on two new horns
That’s one big 7th grade band! We got really bad health news about a teacher friend today, and seeing these young people working together to make music really lifted my spirits. Hooray for the POTD blog!
I am so sorry about your news, but glad I could brighten your day a little. ♥️
You should hear the seventh grade orchestra!!!!
They announced that orchestra was the next day and I considered it, but we already had a movie date with friends.
