It was POURING when I went to work this morning – so hard I could hardly see the road. It rained until about 9, then it changed to snow.
Obviously.
Or not! It was 80 degrees TWO days ago. We went out convertibiling. Why can’t the weather just be nice to the kids once on Halloween? It did stop precipitating about 5pm and the 30mph wind died back by 7pm. We had about the average number of treaters – between 40 and 50. Not a lot, but not none.
The most exciting thing was our very first treater – Adalynn! We haven’t seen her (or her mom and dad) in way too long. She was hesitant about everything at first but warmed up and came in to play with toys. She tried to put on one of the tiny Crocs from McDonald’s – such cute. When we put candy in her bucket, she would look in and whisper, “candy..”
After they went on, we watched Abbott Elementary Halloween and I loved the costumes! By 8:15 things had been quiet for half an hour.
I never know how we get any treaters because our cul-de-sac is not hospitable. More than half of the houses are dark. I headed to the front door to see if anyone still had lights on. I pushed my face up to the window next to the door and jumped a mile! There were kids looking back at me! They were middle schoolers. I pulled open the door and burst out, “I was just going to look outside and you were there. You scared the shit out of me.”
Yes. I used profanity interacting with trickertreaters. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I apologized and they laughed. I gave them each a giant handful of candy – partly for swearing and partly because I figured they were the last ones of the night.
Our 8th grade friend hauled in 19 pounds of candy. I think he looks like a dragon with his treasure. Probably no one swore at him.
Grandniece and grandnephew looked adorable – and are known to be smaller and cuter in real life.
Keith did a great job with his punkins – Anxiety and Anger from Inside Out 2. Anxiety’s candle flickered the whole night – which seemed very appropriate.
I love the teddy bear in his ghost costume!
The whole family was dressed up!
Outstanding art work from “the master!!” Saw no punkins in San Antonio…. But we had supper at an Applebees and were served by Dracula.
Dracula is better than punkins!
The wind was blowing 50 mph here with dropping temps so we had 14 treaters.
Yeah, wind like that is a show stopper. Sad for the kids!
