Unexpected is best

We went to trivia this afternoon and Tom and Louise had already staked out a table down in front. It was TV Theme Tunes and I thought we would have a lot of fun and probably do well. Strangely, it was about half movies and half tv shows. It didn’t make it harder or anything, but I thought it was odd, since there are so many TV themes to pick from. About halfway through the quiz, Unchained Melody came on, and Corey (from Wales. Ha! Corey – Wales! Get it?) (I just did and I’ve known him all week) was acting out the pottery scene from Ghost. He said he needed help and picked Keith to be his partner. It was very funny. It got really funny when it was time to do the answers and he came back to get Keith and offered to switch roles with him. Everyone enjoyed their performance. Corey thanked him and said, “I’m glad he was a good sport, because he’s a big fella and if I caught him in bed with my girlfriend, I’d just tuck him in and say good night.”

We had a super busy, fun last day at sea and ended the night (well, we really ended the night eating a roast beef sandwich with spicy horseradish that marvelously attacked my nose at one point) in the Crooner’s Bar with Liam Stewart the piano singer. It was a packed house and people who had been there all week were very much enjoying. Lou Gazzara walked by – the guy who did another show in the big theater tonight and had been on American Idol. Liam invited him in and they sang a bunch of songs together. They were taking requests and Lou had to look up lyrics on his phone, but he was game and gave us a great show. It truly was not planned, and having the guy just join in and sing and talk with people and hang out was so special. I just loved it. We were sitting right in front of the piano, because those were the seats that were available – nothing like keeping a low profile when I video-ed “Ship Life”, Liam’s original song about questions people ask him day in and day out. (Do you eat the leftovers we leave behind? Will you come back after your vacation, or will you go to another ship? It’s funny if you have cruised, because you hear those same questions over and over. I can’t imagine how many times the crew hear them. Next time I cruise, I am going to have an interesting question to ask someone.)

Have you ever noticed how many times you re-use the extra hour you are going to get by changing time zones? We jump from Atlantic time to Eastern time to Midwest time tomorrow. I keep thinking it’s okay to stay up because it’s only midnight and I don’t really have to get up until 8 tomorrow. Except I am using the same hour, so there is no more than 6 hours until I get up, but I keep delaying. It would be great if it was daylight savings weekend too. I probably wouldn’t even have to go to bed.
