Five Minutes of Heaven

We went to the Illusion Theater’s new location in Minneapolis (not downtown like it used to be). It seemed so very easy to park in the school parking lot across the street (their suggestion) and walk across a pleasant street instead of parking in an expensive lot and walking down Hennepin.

Anyway, the show was terrific. It is the story of Northern Ireland and the Troubles. A young man murders a little boy’s brother in front of him, and now, 45 years later, they are going to meet on a TV show. The actors portraying the main characters were terrific (the playwright portrayed the boy as an adult). Keith and I agreed that it was the rare show that you felt you were on everyone’s side.

It was a 2009 film with Liam Neeson, that I would be interested in seeing, but I think the play was more my speed. We didn’t need to see everything that happened back then to understand the pain that both men were in now. And as much as I love movies, live theater is the best.
