A Rainforest and the good, the Bad, and the Funky

We went to see a funk, soul, rhythm and blues band at the Phipps Center. A college friend and a computer work friend both play in it, so it was fun for us to see them on stage.

There is a little art gallery off the lobby that features a rotating gallery of work. Today we enjoyed (and I mean we really enjoyed looking at all the details) a rainforest created by Lana Sjoberg with the help of Willow River Elementary School students. The kindergartners made the leaves, the first graders made the leaf cutter ants, the second graders made the frogs (origami frogs with adorable faces were hidden throughout. I really liked searching for them), the third graders made the canopy, the fourth graders made the vines and bromeliads (using the kindergarteners’ leaves), the fifth graders made all of the insects, and the waterfall and flowers were created by students and their families at the Willow River Elementary Fine Arts Night. There was no way to get a picture that covered everything, but I really liked the waterfall and the bamboo was my favorite, so that is the picture you get.
