Yes, again

I didn’t write about it when it happened over Memorial Day weekend, because it was just too painful.

We slit the brand-new-last-year-pool-liner again. Same thing that happened last year. I was on my out to go swimming for the first time this year (so late!) and Keith was coming in, looking AWFUL. I had a momentary flash that he’d found a body floating in the pool, although I knew that couldn’t happen because you can’t get in when the cover is closed, but his face looked that stricken. Luckily, it was only money not life on the line. We had paid to have the liner track fixed, but apparently the late heavy snowfall bent it slightly and it could pop out of the track and cut the liner.

AAUUUGGGHHH.

It was $6000 for the new liner last year and it was quite painful to think about doing that again. I thought we should just tape it and move.

Seriously.

It turned out insurance covered it (minus $500 deductible and $150 of depreciation). PHEW! Unfortunately, insurance did not cover the $6000 to replace (AND FIX) the cover and track.

This $6000 thing is NOT a habit I am fond of.

So, today, the hottest day of the year, the guys came and replaced the cover, track, and the liner. We had to have air conditioning instead of swimming.

We went to see Godspell at the Artistry theater in Bloomington tonight. I have never seen it, but wasn’t too excited, because it seemed religiousy and 70s-y and whatever.

IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!! The cast was stellar. It was very updated and contemporary and VERY FUNNY (first act – second act gets a bit more serious). I hope if you are reading this and are in the area you can find the time to go to see if before it closes August 13. There is nothing better than a live performance!

  1. $6K… Yikes!!! Sorry about that, but for you guys it’s money well spent – and hopefully it won’t happen again!!! Moving would have cost way, way more than $6,000. And that new liner sure does look nice!

    1. You are right – would have been more! I’m very much hoping things can just stay fixed now!

    1. Ugh indeed. We tried to open the cover today for the first time and it didn’t work 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
