We went to the Lyndale Amphitheater to the Illusion Theater’s Our Big Fat Eventual Wedding, billed as “Allison and Leslie Vincent recount the rollercoaster of their engagement and planning a wedding in the time of COVID through music, storytelling, and comedy.” It was a very strange mash-up of two people just talking about meeting and falling in love and getting engaged and having to postpone their wedding from July 2020 to October 2012. Periodically, they would sing a song – sometimes an original to fit the story, sometimes a cover of a famous song. Sometimes, it was a scripted back and forth – which often made us laugh out loud – and sometimes they were just talking. Sometimes that made us laugh, too. This performance was delayed a week, since last week it 100 degrees and no one wanted to be outside performing or watching – a perfect bit of irony to go with their delayed wedding.
