A not scary frog

He’s definitely grumpy, but not scary at all. Last summer, I was ready for frogs. I was determined to get over being afraid of them, then there were no frogs. I do not understand where the frogs come from (nature!) when there are gazillions of them in the pool. I tell them to go away because the pool kills them (bad pool). Dead frogs are horrible. Ew. But I was going to…wait…I’m not really meant to be talking about pool frogs.

That got away from me, just thinking about pool frogs. My new frog is a purse and he came via my friend Maren as a lovely birthday gift. It is nice when your people know you well enough to get you a frog, and a Jelly Cat one at that. Jelly Cat is a Minneapolis based purveyor of stuffies. They make all kinds of stuffies, but their food stuffies (and frogs) (and plants) are the best. Alexander recognized my Jelly Cat marshmallows we have in the kitchen and I was amazed. He explained that he prints their catalog and is very knowledgeable about all of their stock (his favorite is the grumpy turtle. Most Jelly Cats are NOT grumpy). I enjoy looking for them when I am out shopping – I found quite a few to admire on our East Coast trip, and several windows full in Lisbon.

The potd has my frog and my two beautiful birthday bouquets. I like birthdays.

  1. I think the frog is pretty great… The other tuba player in my quartet has a SANDWICH stuffy that he carries his essential stuff in. It REALLY looks like a sandwich – and he leaves it places, which makes locating it again a chore sometimes. I don’t think you’ll have that problem with the frog.

    1. If I apply the same logic to getting Keith a carrier of essential stuff as Maren used for getting me a frog, he needs a SANDWICH! It is very fabulous that it exists! Knowing Keith, it would be lost all the time.
