Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting

Because we were at Kung Fu Panda #4. We scurried to the 4:35 movie shortly after I got home from school. Keith asked what our dinner plans were on the ride to the theater and I suggested potato chips. He didn’t seem to think that was a meal. I didn’t actually think it was an appropriate meal.

After the movie, we were going to Sam’s Club to buy vegetables (who are we?!) and I asked Keith what he was thinking about for dinner. He said he had no idea. I was marginally incredulous. Other than Kung Fu fighting, the movie was mostly about eating Chinese food. I had been thinking about Chinese food for an hour and a half.

“Really? Not Chinese food?”
“Why Chinese food? Do you want Chinese food?”
“Yes, I want Chinese food. I have been watching a cartoon panda eat cartoon Chinese food for an hour. His one dad owns a restaurant. He is the best noodle maker in the region. Noodles. I could have some noodles. Chinese noodles. Or we could go to Noodles and Company and I could get Japanese pan noodles, which are like Chinese noodles but Japanese. Po kept talking about dumplings. Are dumplings like pot stickers? I love potstickers. What are dumplings? I was wondering a lot about dumplings whenever he was talking about them. Which was pretty often. I think I probably like Chinese dumplings. Or not. Do you know? But we could go to Yang’s or LeeAnn Chin’s on the way home, or we could buy frozen Chinese food from Sam’s. What are dumplings? DD would know. He knows about every culture having some kind of dumpling – empanadas, pierogis, you know, meaty bundles. Were you not thinking about eating Chinese food while they were always eating or talking about eating?”
“Nope. It never made me think about Chinese food. Or any food.”

We had pot stickers for dinner.

  1. We miss Lee Ann Chin’s! I’m glad you got your dumplings, wherever they were from. 🙂
