Maren, Moose money, and a Train

Sunday, May 26, 2024

What a great day.

Maren and Rob and the kids arrived about 11:30am to join us for a bit of water sliding and wave pooling. Every good thing is made better by having friends join you.

We got $175 in Moose Money (local currency) for going to a timeshare thing. Alexander and I LOVE free stuff, so we were very happy. We spent $50 on dinner last night and then went to the very nice (a bit fancy) Italian restaurant tonight to spend the rest. Our meals were terrific. Keith had beef short ribs with pappardelle pasta, Alexander had a parmesan crusted ribeye, and I had the best thing – the tenderloin trio (blackened with a red wine demiglace, gorgonzola topped with a cream sauce, and mushrooms and onions with bordelaise sauce). Everything was so good! We ate a million breadsticks. The Moose Money covered the entire bill (lies! We had to pay 47 cents!).

There is a new train running between St Paul and Chicago and it has been a topic of conversation lately. I told Alexander he could go home early if he wanted to take the train home. He really didn’t need or want to leave early especially, but he did want to ride the train. He took off for home about 8:25pm and will pull into Union Depot at midnight. Conveniently, Benjamin is at our house to scoop him up. His luggage (meaning everything he took that wasn’t in his pockets) was a notebook. That is what I call traveling light.

This is Maren helping with the wave good-bye picture.

How cute is this train station!?

Have fun riding the train!
