Let them eat cake

It was the brothers’ birthday several days ago, but I just got this picture and I love it so much. I know I was having a good time in Europe while they were blowing out candles, but a lot of me would have preferred to be there, with them. It is all about the people, isn’t it? Our favorite trips have always been because of the people we traveled with or met along the way. When I think of our trip to Portugal (which came up several times during this trip) the first thing I think of was teaching the guy from UK how to tie shoes. People!

Of course, being with the band this trip was ideal. I really tried to spend some time with as many people as I could. When you are jetlagged (even after that initial auugh wears off) you are still off and given any opportunity to nap, I just plop off. I think for that reason I didn’t move around the bus more – if I was sitting with someone other than Keith, I wouldn’t just be able to fall asleep. So, note to self, (NOTE TO SELF) (I just put a calendar reminder on my phone for June 1, 2026. I like to assume we will be readying for another band trip) move seats – maybe not for the whole 3-hour ride, but to start off for a while. Settle in and just chat. OoOoOo. I am excited about that. (It just occurred to me that Keith will also be switching by virtue of being left behind. I think he will like it.) (Dear Keith, please like it. But if you don’t, you can have me back.)

Today was feeling a bit lonely without the people, but it also feels kinda special to be home. Apparently, I cleaned up quite a bit around here before we left, and it was very nice to come home to that. Keith worked, while I sat around and was happy. Maren visited and we sat in the blue chairs – doesn’t get much better. Keith and I went to brass band tonight – all the regulars from the Sheldon band who went on the trip were home with covid! The people were missing, so it wasn’t as much fun. There is a concert on Saturday and hopefully everyone will be well by then.
