I have been hoping to see the northern lights forever and tonight I finally did. We pay attention to the notices of when they are supposed to be able to be seen in Minnesota, and drive out looking for some dark-ish place to look, but have never seen a thing. Keith says he saw them a lot when he was a kid – they were scary ghosts in the sky.
Driving home from rehearsal in Red Wing tonight, we took the Wisconsin route, because it is darker, but saw nothing. We drove around toward Afton, because it is darker, but saw nothing. We gave up and headed for home. As we came to the place we usually go for dark-ish, there they were! They weren’t very bright and there wasn’t much of the proverbial dancing, but we saw colors in the sky, and it was great.
