Bonnie And Clyde

Friday, October 11, 2024

We went to see the dance company Collide’s production of Bonnie and Clyde tonight. We both really enjoyed it. It was Bonnie’s story – with some occasional narration from her – otherwise it was all dance. The woman playing Bonnie was not only a tremendous dancer, but she told the story through her eyes. I was pretty captivated by watching just her.

Their productions use a huge range of music, but mostly what I would call pop music – and my definition of pop music is anything that someone would just listen to in their car. A lot of the music tonight had a country twang to it, since Bonnie and Clyde were mostly busy robbing and murdering in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri…although they did venture into Minnesota. I really liked all the music – some of it I may have to track down and listen to (maybe in my car).

Of course, any production company is looking to the fill the seats of their shows. The director came out to introduce the show and encouraged us to share on social media and text our friends. At intermission, we were wondering who we could encourage to go see the show. We weren’t sure of anyone specifically – it’s not the run of the mill thing to go to see – but we recommend it to everyone. It is playing for the next couple weeks. Go ahead, try something new.
