Our plan when we moved here was to have more gatherings. Pandemic sorta took the wind out of sails and we lost track of that a bit. Keith has been playing in the After Hours Big Band for years and we have never had a gathering, so we decided it was overdue. We had just about half of the band members able to make it, but it turned out to be a perfect sized party.
We made pizzas in the pizza oven. Every time we do it, I think I learn something…then I realize I am learning the same things over again. No real big surprise there. Today I tried something new – I forgot to put cheese on pizzas number 2 and 3. Luckily, one of the guests asked Keith if we usually made pizza without cheese before I could continue the trend. Gahhhhhhh! The cheese was the closest ingredient to my hand!
After that, the pizzas turned out well and got eaten. Everyone brought snacks and treats to share. We had a big fruit salad with apple pie filling used as the binder or dressing or whatever you want to call it. It was really good – a dessert disguised as fruit. Love it!
The pool was a hit, with most people going for a dip. There were 6 kids – all boys – and they seemed to have a great time swimming. The weather was perfect and we lingered with the last folks for a couple hours on the deck. Marvelous.
