A Bunny Sanctuary

Alexander calls his yard a bunny sanctuary, because he doesn’t care what they eat, how much they eat, or when they eat. He welcomes them to come and munch away – away from his neighbors who might have plants they care about. It seems like a nice thing to have in a neighborhood. We were at his house tonight and he pointed out a bunny taking advantage of his hospitality. He said the bunnies eat his dandelions from the end, munching up the stem until the fluffy end of the dandelion goes poof with the last bite. He said it is very entertaining and he likes watching them. He did mention that he understands the poof spreads the dandelion seeds, but at this point, it hardly matters. The dandelion our pictured bunny was eating had already poofed, unfortunately.

I was going to talk about school stuff today, but after the tragedy in Texas, I am trying not to even think of schools.

  1. I’m right there with you, Barbara. What has this world come to? Nevertheless, I would gladly send my giant bunnies to live in Alexander’s back yard. They would be very, very happy there, and I would be happy they were there, too! (Unlike Farmer McGregor, I don’t actually try to do harm to the bunnies….)
