Keith was subbing in the Swing Beat Big Band tonight. They are a swing dance band and they were playing at the VFW in Bloomington for the first time. The crowd was appreciative and clapped enthusiastically, but not one person danced the entire evening.
Huh. I’m very curious if they will be invited back. One doesn’t have to dance to enjoy a band…but huh.
Hmmm. . .maybe it only takes one…. Take a dancin’ friend along and get up and dance!!
It’s true! Keith and I have been first on the floor several times and more people followed.
This is the issue when your partner is “in the band.” When I’m not playing, Barbara and I are usually out there doing our thing – although it’s just pretty basic. When we were at the Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest three weeks ago listening to Blaskapelle Milwaukee, it was the same. Almost NOBODY danced. We did, as did Rodney and Beverly Hudson, and George and Jean Utphall. But PRECIOUS few others – and this was more than two hours of GREAT music for dancing. Oh, well…
