We looked at our view from the Grand Floridian and admired the chandelier and ceiling high enough for juggling in our room. Our chandelier had glass birds – with one of them being a penguin. We checked out and dropped our bags at bell services. We planned to walk to the Polynesian, but found out the walkway was closed. We went to the monorail and waited. And waited. Our 10:50 reservation time was quickly approaching. Daniel said he could get a $6 Lyft in 2 minutes. Whooosh. We were there. We were going to Kona Cafe for extra special delicious coffee (we being Daniel and Amanda). There was coffee success and breakfast success.
A storm was brewing. D and A were watching the weather carefully. Somehow weather in Florida is not a thing to me. Severe thunderstorm warning? Whatever. The wind came and then the rain. Keith and Daniel went for Dole Whip, pleasantly available at the Polynesian. Daniel chatted with Andrew from New Mexico at the checkout and when he said he was from Minnesota, Andrew said his favorite YouTube channel was from Minnesota – Snake Discovery (or Snake Escape, I like to call it). He was SOOOOO excited to meet me because I know Emily and Ed (I didn’t get specific in that really Benjamin and Sean know them).
We monorailed to the Contemporary after shopping at the Bou-tiki. By the time we finished (Amanda got a puzzle) the rain was done. I went to fill my soda cup and they had hot chocolate. Obviously, I needed hot chocolate because the rain had dropped the temperature 20 degrees (for the next 15 minutes). They have wonderful hot chocolate at Disney World hotels – usually only during the winter. Way to go, Contemporary!
They went to Disney Springs and enjoyed beautiful desserts.
We took a lap around the World Showcase, then rode our final Guardians.
They had time for swimming before we took our XL Lyft to the airport. We got upgraded to first class (no idea why, but just thought thank you). We got a bit to eat at the GF and enjoyed how pretty it is.
On the plane, we watched the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, thinking we could sleep because we’ve seen it. Apparently not. We were glued to it–but as soon as the credits started, we were both sound asleep until landing time. I looked out my window in time to see the Cirque du Soleil tents (I assume) out the window. That reminds me that we never got tickets. We should do that. We landed exactly at midnight. We said our good-byes to Daniel and Amanda – they were an excellent addition to our trip! Alexander picked us up, delivered us home, and here it is – 1:30am again. I better get to sleep – the alarm for work is in 4.5 hours! 🤦♀️
What a grand adventure!!
It was indeed!
