After seeing Jakob Two Trees in Issaquah last week, I was interested in Thomas Dambo’s other trolls. I looked at a map of the ones in the United States and was surprised to find one in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I told Jerry and Barbara to be on the lookout on their trip back to Wisconsin.
They just sent us a message that they actually saw a sign on the highway “Troll this way”. How great is that? We literally just got the email with the pictures, so we are using them without permission. Or notice! Hopefully they will be pleasantly surprised tomorrow morning. 🙂
Bennie is reclining on the bank of the Manistique River, fishing with his long beard. He is patiently waiting to catch a fish, or a random kayaker. Barbara is in the POTD to give us an idea of Bennie’s size. Here is a second picture, “One in which I managed not to get all of any of us…Oh well,” by Jerry. I think it is terrific.
Yep… We were surprised! And it’s fine. U.S. Highway 2 is full of surprises as it traverses the far north – and we never would have known to look for Benny had we not had this clue from the Thompsons – impressive piece of work. I think that we all need to check the map before we travel, as there are a lot of these things to see! Always some added fun for our trip – from folks who KNOW how to add fun!!!
