Donna went next door first to just be in the yard. Then we all went and stood on the deck. Tomorrow this will be our house. Weird!

Benjamin and Keith moved the outside stuff next door – a jump on the process of moving. It is hard to see, but there is a patio chair balanced on Benjin’s head in the picture below. Alexander came over and they finished while Donna and I were getting paint chips to get ideas for the bedroom.

We went to the 328 Grill at the Legion in St. Paul. For many months, Alexander has sent us the burger of the week from the 328. We text about its delightfulness (or not such delightfulness) and say that someday we are going to go there and have one. Today was the day! We finally went! The burger was topped with pulled pork, sweet chili sauce, and Havarti cheese. Delicious. We also had a the appetizer Minnesota poutine – tater tots and cheese curds topped with creamy wild rice soup. Some people did NOT think it sounded good but gave it a try and everyone liked it. It was decided it could be a Thanksgiving side item.

After dinner, we went to Mik Mart, an ice cream and candy store, for ice cream cookie sandwiches. They have a nice outdoor eating spot as well as inside. We give the cookie sandwiches high marks.

When we came home from dinner, Alexander told Keith to stop and let him off next door. The people had left two big bags of stuff to get picked up by the big garbage bag people and he wanted to search for treasure. I got out too, because I knew how happy he was going to be scavenging for stuff.
I was right. He was so happy. He passed by me at one point and whispered, “It’s like Christmas. But BETTER!” It was so much fun to watch. Donna came over and helped him look. I went home and got Keith and Benjamin because they were missing it. Great pleasure can be found so many places!!
We put some dinnerware and glasses into baskets and boxes and loaded up the car for the first run of kitchen moving tomorrow. We are very interested to see how everything is going to fit into the new little house. I keep saying, “Downsizing is not a bad thing.” I am going to be challenged by organizing the kitchen, or not. Who knows? It will be an adventure.

Turning trash into treasure is my favorite kind of magic.
Me too!
Rah Alexander!!! Ken had said they were going to pick all of that stuff up on FRIDAY – this is a huge bonus. I DO hope they came yesterday or this morning, as the weather is going to be not “moving prima” today…
We just watched the truck take away the big bags. It’s raining now but tomorrow will be lovely. Luckily we have more than a day to move!
