Christmas eve dinner

Sunday, December 24, 2023

We had a nice drive home from Waukesha. Not too many cars on the road, no rain, Christmas music playing, and periodic naps for me. We stopped in Eau Claire and picked up a pizza from Rocky Rococo for dinner tomorrow night. What good planning! I asked Alexander a few weeks ago what we should have for Christmas dinner, and he just shook his head and said, “You are always making dinner on Christmas when everyone knows Christmas is just Sawdust Sausage (sawmill gravy and biscuits) and candy.” Then I learned that Benjamin and Sean will be at Sean’s parents for dinner, so we are having pizza tomorrow for dinner. Or candy. Or both.

Sean was baking gingerbread cookies when we got home, and the house smelled wonderful. We eventually got around to making Chicken Tchoupitoulas (Cajun-spiced chicken breast over potato, ham, mushroom, green onion hash all smothered in bearnaise sauce) and enjoyed a lovely actual dinner together.

We finished wrapping presents and watched Muppet Christmas Carol, the best Christmas movie.
