Sometimes you don’t see it coming. Sometimes the white cabinets are quietly living behind the pile of stuff you don’t know what to do with and then they roar into disagreement. We thought they would go into the unfinished shop-type room to continue storing things. Benjamin, Jeffrey, and Daniel all went down to move them. They whispered no, all three of them, and clung to each other. Benjamin tried to get his finger in between while gently rocking one of the ends and they said no, we will stay here. Between the three guys, they separated the end one from the others. One moaned. Another cried. Benjamin tipped one and almost took out a light fixture. The other two cabinets giggled at Benjin for thinking he was winning. TB is often winning, but not right then.
I left and saw Erick and sent him their way. I went to the other house. Keith started laying the new floor and I didn’t want to interrupt, but it also seemed the men were being outgunned by the cabinets. He went to help.

When next I saw our heroes, one white cabinet was rolling on a dolly into the new basement. Down the hall they went…
EEEERKKK
There was NO way to get it into the shop room. Nowhere to tip it into the doorway from the hall.
Mmmm.
Erick opened the furnace room door and suggested in there. Keith mumbled about having to move the light switch. I cut to the chase, “Can you do it?” “Sure.” End of conversation.
Donna and Daniel were stuck at the end of the hall that was plugged up with a cabinet. The cabinet was gleeful. He was sure he was going back home. Erick wiggled and adjusted and Donna snuck out. Daniel readied for battle from the bathroom door. Erick tipped. Daniel pulled. Erick tipped. Daniel pulled. Erick guided the top through as Daniel continued to pull. The cabinet tried to weigh as much as cabinetly possible. Erick got the top through and lowered it down so Daniel and I could grab onto nothing to carry it into the furnace room.
IN!!!
“But wait,” the cabinet cackled. “You can’t get another one in here without pushing me against the window. And the vent is too low to slide me.” Bwahahahaha
We tipped and pushed and pulled and squished Erick and the cabinet against the window. Erick did a magic trick by climbing out from behind.
When Erick returned with cabinet #2, he had traded Daniel for Jeffrey (that Daniel is a clever man). The cabinet tried but he was no match for experienced Erick. Jeffrey called out military type instructions and #2 slid in. The third cabinet was anxious now to move to the new house, so he put up no fight at all. Down the hall, tipped over, and in he went – leaving plenty of room for Keith to move the light switch.
Then it was time for ice cream.

These guys moved SO MUCH HEAVY and did it all with smiles on their faces. I am so lucky (and this is not the first time I have appreciated this) to have them in my life!!!
VICTORY!!!!! And really wishing we were there… Although we would probably be virtually useless….
Victory is right! It was hard work and hilarious at the same time!
This post has given me so much joy. I’ve read it at least ten times and couldn’t resist sharing your point of view with some friends. Thank you for always reminding us how wonderful life is when you pay attention.
I am so glad! Joy is best
I think what Louise said about almost all of your posts. They continually remind me how to make joy out of every moment, and how lucky I am to have YOU as a friend!
