I retrieved Nancy from a lovely overnight visit at Emma’s, (deer are so prevalent in her neighborhood that they are just walking around munching on yards during the day. A pack of them sleep in the park across the street at night) then we retrieved Keith from chamber orchestra rehearsal, and we drove to almost-Wausau to meet Michael and Donna, who had driven from Wauwatosa. We met at McDonald’s, which was disguised as a log cabin. It was very tricky.
Nancy gave Donna a potato she had in her pocket. I think it was a thank you for coming up to get me present.
There was very much laughing in the parking lot. It would have been obvious from anyone watching us that we were having a reunion after a many-year separation (or six days). We moved to a picnic table, conveniently located in the park next door. We talked and laughed and before we knew it, we had to get on the road. I told Keith to take our picture. He said Nancy was in the shadows, so she should slide back. She did. He said then I was in shadow, so I moved close and toward the middle. We looked at the picture after he was satisfied, and Nancy and I just laughed and laughed. Donna said, “C’mon. So much laughing from one picture?” then she slid off the bench and was a heap on the ground laughing. Such a good time.
They set off back to their homes and we went to Wissota High Shores for dinner. The salad bar was excellent, as usual. My steak exceeded my expectations, and that is saying something, because I was really looking forward to it. The lyonnaise potatoes were perfectly crispy and not crispy. I don’t think I could have had a better meal. Our lake view wasn’t half bad either.
We went back to the car and I froze! My tiny France hat had tried to get away! The horror!
The chamber orchestra concert was good. We walked around by the light up squirting fountains outside of the Pablo Center, then went to our car (parked in the CLOSEST spot to the Pablo!) and headed for home.
There was also this picture-taking place by the fountains/
