Cul-de-sac Concert

Thursday, August 8, 2024

Eight is my favorite number. Today is 8/8. Yay.

There have been signs around the neighborhood advertising a free concert in Oxford Court (the next cul-de-sac down from us. They are alphabetical, which makes so much sense. Alcove, Bay, Circle, Court, Echo, etc. Our neighborhood is very big on cul-de-sacs). Every once in a while, we have heard music and a couple times we walked down to see what was going on, and both times it ended as we arrived. This time we went on purpose.

We were quite surprised to see the street lined with cars as we drove down the hill. (Yes, we drove. I pulled weeds all afternoon after swimming laps. It was a stunning day – sunny to keep me toasty for a few minutes of floating, cool to keep me feeling great wearing a damp swimming suit while spontaneously deciding to pull a few weeds….for three hours. I showered and dressed, then Keith finished work and we went out and pulled weeds. Face palm picture here. It may be the next cul-de-sac but it is three blocks down the hill – the hilliest part of the hill) (hilliest part!) There was a food truck! It was a cookie dough food truck. Keith couldn’t think of any other kind of food truck he wouldn’t get something from, but cookie dough was not for him. It was Tyler Marshall and his band, who live around there, or his parents do. I had never heard of him. This was their 6th annual concert in the cul-de-sac. There were probably about 75 people there.

It was great to see all the people from the neighborhood coming. They said they had papered the neighborhood with 300 flyers on doors. We didn’t get one. Huh. There were lots of families with little kids, but quite a few teenagers too. We listened for a while, then headed home. His original tunes didn’t grab me and, really, I wanted to go home and finish season one of The Outlaws. (It was good. We immediately started season 2.)
