Ahhhhh. To dryer or not to dryer. Obviously, I learned that a dryer is not necessary. I thought I would be all about hanging things up when I got home, but when I pulled the first load out of the washer today, the dryer was just so there. I looked at what I had. A pair of pants, some shirts, some t-shirts, miscellaneous socks. I put them in the dryer, because then they would be done. I turned it on. I opened it up and took the pants out. I turned it on. I opened it up and pulled out a couple t-shirts. I turned it on. I opened it up and put the t-shirts back. I decided I would stop it after 15 minutes and then let them air dry. I forgot. Beeeeep. Done. Dry. Hung up. Second load went all over the house. Socks are still wet but everything else is dry. My sister says I need a clothesline in the house. I also need a clothesline outside. I need clothespins that were never played with in the dirt. The children are very grown up, but the dirt clothespins remain.
We finished all the food people brought and Keith ran out to get fish and chips for dinner (because it is Friday, afterall). It cost roughly 4 times as much as in Treorchy. Tomorrow we will buy food. The dilemma will be lots of food or two days of food we know we are going to eat in the next two days. That was working pretty well. No waste. Figure it out and follow through because there is no choice. We’ll see.
I finished unpacking all of the suitcases and carry-ons. I found a stack of drawings from DisneyWorld in the big outside pocket of the biggest suitcase. Big 11×14 sheets of paper. Weighing it by balancing it on my hand, it was worth at least one more bag of wine gums. I had no idea they were in there (obviously)(I wouldn’t have chosen to take them for a ride). You always date your drawings. Top one was from 1/12/12! Farther down was one from 9/27/09!!!! I showed Keith that we have been travelling these pictures (including the well-remembered pudgy Mickey – remembered for being the worst) around for 13 years!!!! What?!? Then we realized that we probably haven’t taken the big suitcase on a plane since 2012, because although it is not oversized, it is big enough to get too heavy, so we just take it on car trips, if at all. Still, one more bag of wine gums would have been good.
We watched Turning Red on Disney+ tonight. I fell asleep.
A wooden rack, a pkg of clothespins, some hangers. Easy peasy. Good luck! You’ll be helping save the planet day by day.
I like any steps that go toward saving the planet!!
My former student who is a Norwegian (and thus lives in Norway – go figure) actually has a “drying room” in his house. Apparently, this is something that Norwegians typically have that we do not. They just put things that need to dry in the drying room where they…. dry…. Maybe this is something that Keith needs to look into for the next project. You guys could be the only ones in Woodbury (or maybe all of the Upper Midwest to have a “drying room.” Just a thought…
I do like a speciality room. Maybe we could stop calling one room Benjamin’s room. He has actually never lived here
A drying room seems a good idea. I have one but I call it a spare bedroom! A name change is called for….
See?! Benjamin’s room can because the drying room!
I’ve always wanted to call the City of Woodbury to see if it’s code or law that we can’t have clotheslines here. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one.
Does anyone know?
I assumed when we moved here and no one had a clothesline that it was not allowed. I should check that out. Never assume!!
