Dueling Pianos

Wednesday, June 19, 2024

Today was a work holiday for Keith and he spent the entire day making plane, hotel, train, and theater plans for the upcoming European holiday. YAY! We have a plan.

I saw an ad a couple weeks ago for a dueling piano show at Lyric Arts and I was all in. As we arrived, Keith asked if it was Broadway themed. I answered honestly, “I saw dueling pianos and stopped reading. I assumed it was like monster trucks – they crash pianos.”

Okay, only the first part was honest.

It turned out to be Broadway themed, which was the best. We didn’t see the place to put requests in in the lobby, but they said C’mon on down during the show and put a request in the basket. I was going to put Lily’s Eyes from Secret Garden in because it’s Keith’s favorite song from his favorite show but then they were already doing it! Someone else put it in!! Who? I wanted to find the person so we could gush about favorites together.

We were encouraged to sing along – and I did – especially when there were chorus parts. Keith stayed quiet (even during Lily’s Eyes!! What was that about?) until Bring Him Home. I wouldn’t have guessed it. He joined in on Sweet Caroline too, because that is required.

Keith is going two weeks without his hearing aid as it in for servicing. It makes his tinnitus worse/way more annoying. I was on his not hearing side, so at least he was spared from hearing me singing along. You’ve got to find the bright sides!
