Dan joined us in going to see Jeffrey’s band tonight at Stillwater high school. A bunch of other fun folks were there too! Erick and Daniel get all the gold stars from me for coming to all the concerts! I got to hang out with Adalynn before the concert while everyone was running around getting tickets and getting organized.
The high school band played, then small groups, then Encore. The concert band joined Encore to play A Christmas Festival, which is my favorite Christmas song – if you can consider an arrangement a favorite song. The surprise trombone O Come All Ye Faithful tears (tear as in crying, not tear as in shredding) me up every time. Encore played a tune call Minor Alterations – Christmas songs played in minor keys. It sounded like a great combo of Jack Skellington/Chim Chim Cheree (Happy 100th birthday a couple days ago to Dick Van Dyke)/Fiddler on the Roof sounds. We all enjoyed it.
Adalynn started getting drowsy during the penultimate song, then during the mass band ending of Sleigh Ride she fell asleep. Daniel said it didn’t matter that there were 300 people on stage, she was sawing logs louder than they were playing. So, as the saying goes, to all a good night!
