Fat Monday

Monday, March 3, 2025

I had the great idea to make a few Cajun dishes for Fat Tuesday, but then we realized we would like to go back to Tono for the Tuesday special – so Fat Monday was born. Chicken Tchoupitoulas was a given, then we decided corn maque choux and added a box mix of red beans and rice when we saw it at the store. We started cooking yesterday, because the potatoes take forever, then worked on readying the ingredients on and off all day. I had new spring-y lights that Nancy and Donna put up this morning.

Donna, Nancy, and I went for a walk before starting to cook and picked up a puzzle from the Little Free Puzzle Library up the street. Nancy started the puzzle while Keith, Donna, and I started cooking. Tom and Louise jumped in on the puzzle when they arrived. Alexander jumped in on the cooking when he arrived. It was the best use of kitchen island we have ever had!

Dinner was good – with angel food cake for dessert. FYI, an angel food cake serves seven.

We cleared the dishes, whipped off the tablecloth, and played a bunch of games of Flip 7. Yay!

Happy Fat Monday!!
