I worked with 8th graders today and not one kid tried any kind of April Fool’s joke. Huh.
I was scheduled to give blood at a church at 3:45 at a church a couple of miles away. I suggested Keith come to pick me up afterwards and take me to Tono’s for dinner. The church is on the way and on the way home, so it would just get us there more quickly. He agreed. We had really good pizza – and got a table before the crowd set in. As we pulled out of our parking spot, a walking-by woman flagged us down and said that our tire was almost flat. Keith checked it out and sure enough, it was really flat. We were very near Sam’s Club, where we have previously purchased tires. The tires man took over while we shopped around.
I studied the prices of Reeses Peanut Butter eggs. I really like the chocolate to peanut butter ratio. We looked at pergolas to put over the hot tub at our new house. We looked at potting soil and go-in-the-ground dirt.
The tires man told us that we needed a new tire because it was dead. They don’t have tires in stock for little red 20-year-old cars. We have to order them. He put the spare on, after checking it out. He thought it would be fine, but warned us that a 20-year-old spare might not be the most reliable tire.
We cautiously drove back towards the church. We were only blocks away when our street was closed. No warning, just closed. No detour through the neighborhood, just closed. I guess everyone has a phone to tell them how to get around it. We made it to the other car, and I followed Keith home, cleverly going only through neighborhoods.
He ordered the tires and made the appointment to have them put on. It’s next Tuesday at 4pm. We’ll walk over to Tono while we are waiting.
