Flowers and a movie and dinner!

What a splendid day. I helped my friend, Carla, organize the MN Horticultural Society fundraiser this morning. Well, I didn’t organize. I mostly carried pots of plants. I am not a gardener, but I was lucky that they weren’t selling any of the items today, because I am greatly enticed by beautiful plants. I would have gone home with a carload if I could have. I realized while I was there that the tree that the city took down last fall (was it winter? I don’t remember) leaves a newly sunny spot in the yard for planting. Mmm. That sounds like fun.

I got home in time to go pick up Tom and Louise for a trip to Hudson for a 4:45 movie. Yesterday was the first time Keith or I had ever taken exit 4 off of I-94 (north, for the tuba party) and today we went south to the movie theater. We went to see Sweetwater, about Nathaniel Clifton, one of the first black players in the NBA. It wasn’t playing in Woodbury, so we ventured to Wisconsin. It was a very nice theater – out in the middle of nowhere.

Keith had the brilliant idea that we go for dinner in Hudson after the movie. I was so impressed when I looked at my phone before leaving the flower activity and saw that he had arranged to pick up Tom and Louise, and suggested and planned dinner. Yay, Keith! Way to make a plan!! We went to the San Pedro restaurant for Jamaican food. I order the Chicken Chili Pasta – jerk chicken in creamy red sauce on penne. When I ordered, the waitress asked if I was okay with spice. I shrugged, “sure!” I’m never looking for heat for the sake of heat, but I can roll with some zing. It was delicious and was definitely at my maximum spice level. Wooooooo!!! There were a few vegetables mixed in and I had to space them out to help cool the burn. I eventually asked for a piece of bread, just to make sure I didn’t start on fire. Keith had jerk chicken too, but with cooling rice and beans. Louise had a wrap and salad that she loved, and Tom tried enchiladas with a mole sauce, which was an entirely new taste to him. We all heartily enjoyed our meals and will definitely go back soon.
