Funny Girl

We went to see the touring Broadway show Funny Girl tonight. Keith had to dash out to cough in the restroom about 2 minutes after the show started, but then managed to see the rest of the first act. He was so whomped that we decided to come home at intermission. I saw the show in high school (I remember nothing) and he had never seen it, but it wasn’t really thrilling either of us, so we figured we could watch Barbra Streisand and Omar Shariff do it sometime. The performers were fine, but not stellar; the orchestra was unbalanced (the trumpet made me want to put my fingers in my ears, he was so overmiked). I’m glad we went. We heard People and Don’t Rain on My Parade. Now I am glad we are home.

  1. We saw it a week ago and the woman who played Fannie was probably one of the best singers we’ve ever had in Milwaukee. Nick was not anyone special. I don’t think I’ve seen the movie since it came out but probably watched it multiple times in the theater.
Going to see Forbidden Broadway tomorrow, looking forward to that.
