We went to see the musical with Bob Dylan music tonight. I didn’t think I knew much Bob Dylan music and I was right. I was familiar with one of the songs in the show. I guess it is better described as a play with music. I didn’t notice until the end of the first act that we hadn’t applauded after any songs.
It was set in 1934 in Duluth in a boarding house and things were not going well for anyone there. The music was nice, but didn’t further the story lines.
I wasn’t sure what I thought of it at intermission, but I enjoyed the second act and am very glad to have seen it. I think it is a show you could see several times and get more out of it every time, rather than a toe tappin’ extravaganza that sweeps you off your feet.
