It was my niece Liz’s bridal shower today. We played very fun games – getting points for things on our phones (like Let’s Make a Deal, but with phones!), passing flowers around to those with given attributes, and the classic remembering things on a tray (or were they on the tray?). There was good food – Donna and I both went rogue and ordered what we wouldn’t usually order to just to be adventuresome. We each took a couple bites and swapped plates. I suppose there is a reason we usually order what we order (I like eggs; she likes French toast) (is it just toast in France? No!). Liz was so pretty in a white sundress, sparkly shoes, and a pearl headband. One of Liz’s friends was talking to Emma and it never occurred to me that I would know any of Liz’s friends. I asked Emma who she was and it was Heather! Heather (known as Heath Bar by the boys when they were younger) went to Florida with Liz and Karen lots of time when they were kids, and we spent several vacations with her. Once I actually activated my brain, I recognized her. I sent the picture to Benjamin, and he immediately knew it was her. Alexander is off the grid this weekend, but I’ll check his memory out too.
After a regenerative period of time (I was sound asleep for about two hours), Keith and Nancy and I went to Kopps because they had the best flavor today – Bienenstichkuchen (bee sting cake). Nancy likes to pronounce it bee-en-en-stook-en-koog-el-en. We know what she means. It is almond custard with yellow cake pieces, honey, Bavarian creme and sliced almonds. It was in honor of GermanFest this weekend. You think it is going to be good, then it is even better. There is a big Harley Davidson thing going on, so there was also Hog Heaven – peanut butter custard with chocolate truffle pieces and ribbons of fudge. It was very busy – more so than I had ever seen it. Nancy said that was because we aren’t there very often. Then it got so busy that she thought it was extraordinarily busy. We got our custard and decided it was worth the wait.
We played Spots and Sequence and then were tired again. It’s super humid out, so I think that might have something to do with lethargy…or we could just be lazy. 🙂
