Happy Thanksgiving Eve

Wednesday, November 27, 2024

We travelled in the afternoon to Waukesha. We sailed right along, except when we had to STOP (NOW!) because the many, many cars in front of us stopped suddenly. It happened four or five times, but we weren’t ever stopped for long. Even though we started out about noon, we arrived in the pitch black of night (5pm). Wintertime probably wouldn’t be so hard if it wasn’t dark all the time.

Nancy was happy to see us, and we were happy to see her. She has been busy cooking for the big dinner tomorrow. We sampled cookies (which are shaped like turkeys and my equivalent of heaven on Earth) and apple pie bars. Being that she is Nancy, she had her trusty ruler out to make the bars exactly the size recommended by the recipe. Then we cut them in half. 🙂

We met Donna and Michael at Kopps. The flavors were Praline Pecan Pumpkin Pie (pumpkin custard with oatmeal cookie piece and praline pecans) and Cranberry Medley (cranberry custard with swirls of peach and cranberry, oatmeal cookie pieces, and walnuts). I was all about the cranberry until Donna had the pumpkin and it was amazing.

I decided to stick with cranberry, with the reservation that I could have pumpkin afterward if I wanted it. Donna has my cone in the picture, and you can see Keith’s wimpy little cup. They are both “one scoop”. He should have gotten a cone. When he went back for a cone, I said I would share it with him – but he ate it before I got any. That was cheating. There’s no cheating in Thanksgiving.

We visited a long time, and it was great. We laughed like no one was watching, but I am guessing some people were.

We noticed we all have the same nose. Huh.
