We originally saw the play in London while it was in previews almost ten years ago. We really enjoyed it, then forgot what happened. Now we remember. Or do we? The original show was done in two parts. We went to the theater for a matinee, had a dinner break, and came back for the second half. It was over four hours long. Tonight’s show was three hours, including intermission. I wonder what they cut? I sure don’t know. I do know that they have really upped their “magic” game. There was a LOT of magic happening on stage. I loved every bit of it. A downside of a popular title coming to the theater is that a lot of people who have not been to the theater come – yay for new theater goers! – but they get up ALL THE TIME. They maybe think it is a sports or an arena concert or something, but there is constant movement of people getting out of rows and walking in and out. I don’t love it.
