Hey, Can you play Tuesday night?

Tuesday, December 3, 2024

It’s time for our holly, jolly participation in the POTD! The theme of day four is Lights! Take a picture of some outdoor lights and send it to me – text or email – or [email protected] by 10pm December 4 and it will be in that day’s blog. If you want to remain anonymous, let me know – otherwise I will give you credit. You don’t have to play every day – any day or every day is fine! We will count down the days to Christmas together!

Keith got that text as we walked into Mike’s concert Sunday afternoon. We’d thought we’d go to see Wicked, but a movie can wait. The Bill Simenson Orchestra needed a lead player for an “open rehearsal” at Jazz Central Studios. Keith hadn’t played with Bill for 36 years (they were half of the original Cedar Avenue Big Band trumpet section together), so he was due. I had never heard of the place, but Keith knew what it was. They have live, ticketed shows every Friday and Saturday, and I guess other groups provide music during the week with the open rehearsal format. It’s a small place – audience of about 50 – but I love that there is yet another place that people can play, and people can listen.

Our friend, Julie, sent a happiness picture yesterday, but it was eaten by the email address we had listed on the post. Keith didn’t know why, but worked on it and fixed something and changed something. I didn’t want her happiness to go unseen, so here is one more Day 2 picture!

Our mittens come from Donna, Kristine (both homemade!), anonymous, Alexander, Louise, and me.
