Hey, there’s another Park

Wednesday, May 8, 2024

I don’t usually make it 24 hours without getting to the Magic Kingdom – this is day 6! I spent the afternoon in the pool. I chatted up a bunch of people and learned that most old people who go to the quiet pool are here just hanging out. They walk around the park in the early part of the day, or at night, and pool all afternoon. Sometimes they don’t go to the parks for days. They rarely go on rides. None of them like Guardians. I thought we were really taking this easy. I guess I have a ways to go.

Our Guardians was at 4:20. We had pizza at Epcot, then monorailed over to the MK. We took the ferry from the TTC to the MK because the lady said, “The boat is here. It’s the fastest way to get to MK.” I believed her. (well, I didn’t really because that makes no sense, but we haven’t been on that boat for forever so I thought we should. Benjamin recently said he’s never been on it. That is forever.) We were hornswoggled. It took forever and it was very hot. She didn’t say anything about not hot, but still. Ew on too hot.

We had snacks first because we were walking by Smokey Joe’s (actually called Sleepy Hollow) and they have good snacks. We were getting a waffle with nutella and fruit and lo and behold, a corn dog showed up on the tray as well. It’s amazing when they just know what we like.

Then we went to Philharmagic – where they added Coco! – because it is air conditioned. I followed tradition and went in the circle-y part of the railing and balanced 3D glasses on my nose.

We did Space Mountain, then I suggested we just wait in the hub for the fireworks. For an hour and ten minutes. It is so unpleasant to get there late and have people yell at you, and I felt like seeing the fireworks and projection show. We chatted with a lady who was in a wheelchair, because it is good to stand behind a wheelchair. We were next to a plot of garden with a railing, so we could lean some. It was a perfect spot. A lot of other people came to watch.

It was late night – open to resort guests an extra two hours until midnight. We got to go on Big Thunder with no wait a couple times, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Peter Pan just as the clock struck twelve.

Our hotel looked pretty from the bus stop when we got home at 1am. This evening felt quite a bit more like a regular trip to Disney World.

Just a FYI, you skipped a day. Wed should be may 8, because today is Thursday May 9. I think you’re tired.😳
