Hungary

We arrived in our final country this morning, Hungary. We played the second game of the trip – a movie/music quiz. The first 10 questions featured a movie poster with the title removed at the same time as a tune from a different movie played. I don’t know if it was supposed to distract us or what, but they were very simple. The second they played a short clip and cut it off when there was a famous quote coming next. We missed the Godfather (2) quote keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. The last section had us watch the Singin’ in the Rain scene of SitR, then asked us questions about the background etc. We won and it was fun. Our prize was a “Yugoslavian” box of chocolate covered “bananas”. They were very sweet, but tasty. There were a gazillion in the box and we shared all around. Keith made a smile, or a mustache, and another member of our team (name? no idea) was looking at himself in the phone and just cackling with laughter. It was joyful! I loved it.

Our outing today was the best of the trip. First we went to a horse show. First were the trick riders – very cool. They were cracking whips and the horses didn’t care at all. They were trained for combat and wouldn’t flinch at the sound of gunfire.

The Hungarian grey cattle came next. They looked really big. I guess all cattle are really big, but wow.

There were three- and four-horse hitches. The four-horse went realllly fast.

The last guy came out standing on the back of two of ten horses. He also went really fast. Wow.

There was a shop – with everyone lined up to buy paprika. Quick! We’re in Hungary – get the paprika. I saw a lady with two bags of 3-4 cups of paprika in each. That is at least 6 people’s lifetime amount of paprika, isn’t it?

We went for a wagon ride and I really enjoyed it. Alex and Joe came with us after we weedled them.

Next we went to St. Mary’s church for an organ concert. The second piece was a duet – organ and jack hammer. The last piece was Stanley’s Trumpet Voluntary. Keith had no horn. Huh

We had dinner with four of our people – Toni, Eric, Alex, and Joe. It’s Toni’s 80th birthday tomorrow, so we had a surprise cake delivered.
