Julie just said that, and I thought it would be a better title than my idea: Arkansas? Where are we? What is happening?
We took a scenic train ride and had beautiful views of the Ozarks. It was fun to sway along through the trees and the tunnels in the observation car. I was verrrrry surprised when the narrator in our car welcomed us to Arkansas. I didn’t know we were anywhere near Arkansas. I’m still not sure she was right. We posed for a selfie for our friend and Arkansas native, Dr. Jerry.
We ate at Steak ‘n Shake for the first time. I think restaurants that feature a dessert (Keith would argue that a shake is not a dessert, but a meal enhancement) are brilliant because everyone will order dessert, when they would never order dessert otherwise (I would never order a shake. I had a shake).
We went to The Haygoods show this evening. It has apparently been running in Branson for 32 years – since the youngest sibling (and only girl) was zero years old. There are five brothers and the one sister, and they sing and play a gazillion instruments. There was a very large range of music, plus pyrotechnics, fire, upside down tap dancing, humor, and an indoor drone show. Wow. I loved it all.
And I’m sure that ALL the people (in both Missouri AND Arkansas speak without any accent whatsoever, just like me…. There was no train anywhere in the vicinity of Branson when we were there for our honeymoon (48 years ago this week). Cool…
I believe they said this sightseer went into service around 1999. We noticed our car’s narrator had no noticeable accent – and decided she wasn’t from around here
