I got a lei!

We spent some hours on the balcony again this morning. It is so nice out. We have so many birds flying around; it’s wonderful. I am in love with the turkeys. They come around quite often and I just watch them. Some Nene geese came around to show us Hawaii’s national bird. That was very nice of them. Julie saw a $50 bill on the ground from the deck and walked down and around to get it. It magically turned into trash while she was walking.

We went to the beach this afternoon. It was a great beach. It had perfect wave-pool type waves that Julie and I loved.

This evening we went to a luau in Kona. Gary got me a lei and I loved it. I said I didn’t need one, because I didn’t know how much I was going to love it. He got it for me anyway. Fabulous.

There were stations of self serve food – salads, ahi tuna, poi, kalua pork, bbq chicken, beef something in nummy sauce, rice, lots of stuff I didn’t try, chicken nuggets, fries, mac and cheese, pineapple upside down cake, banana bread, guave cake, haupia, and stuff I forgot. Everything I had was really good. There was an open bar and I had two small mai tais. I was a little wobbly, but not much, but then they said everyone should get up and dance to Blue Hawaii (and it was no Blue Hawaii that I have ever heard) but I couldn’t seem to get my feet to go up and down, so Keith just swayed me back and forth while he moved his feet.

My last refill plate – only the best.

The performers were all good. The fire dancer was terrific. He did several things we had never seen done before, so that was cool.
