I made these

I made these praline pecan bars. They smell sooooo good. They are soooooo hard. Too hard for old teeth, for sure. We couldn’t get them out of the pan until my sister recommended throwing them on the floor. I figured the counter was harder than the floor, so I banged the pan really hard, and lo and behold, they loosened up.

They really aren’t safe to eat.

Seriously.

Gahhhhhh!

On a happier note, I took pictures of flowers in our backyard today.

  1. Nice flowers… Be careful of those bars…. Years and years ago three of my students had Barbara and I over for dinner – always interesting having a dinner cooked by three (male) college students. We were supposed to (operative words there) have brownies for dessert. Hilarious laughter was coming from the kitchen – REALLY hilarious. We had no idea what was happening, and we were laughing so hard that we were weeping. THEN they brought out the “brownies.” They couldn’t be penetrated with a sharp knife. I think I hurt for two days from laughing so hard for so long.

    1. Aren’t those the best times?! Keith has been gnawing his way through several of our
bars today – they have softened up a bit, but still won’t be let loose on the unsuspecting relatives at the gathering tomorrow.

      1. I also have to say, your tale reminded me of when you and Barbara came to make us dinner when I was on bedrest with Alexander. It still just warms my heart to think of your kindness. I think of that time – when you just said you were coming, which day worked best – when others are in need and I try to fill a need instead of asking what to do or the tradition “let me know”. You also taught me I love asparagus that night – it was my first time trying it.

  2. Good, good, good memories!!! There’s no amount of money I would trade for those times.

Agreed! I always think life is three parts – looking forward to, doing, and remembering. Each part is so special!
