I volunteered to bring cranberry sauce to dinner on Thursday. I am not just bringing a can of cranberry sauce, but making it from ingredients. Keith and I went on a trip to Mexico pretty many years ago, and my sister, Nancy, came to spend the week with Alexander (he was in high school and Benjamin was gone at college). When we called home during the week, Alexander very enthusiastically reported that Auntie Nancy was a very good cook and that she cooked with ingredients!
It is true that she is a good cook, and that she uses ingredients. I have been doing my best to use ingredients as well. Keith and I went to get the cranberry sauce ingredients. On the main street after leaving our neighborhood, there was an orange on the side of the road.
We needed an orange.
I commented that if we had stopped and gotten the orange, we could have scratched it off the list. Just sayin’.
We got to Sam’s Club and there was an orange on the edge of parking lot, just as we pulled in.
There is no other response to that other than “Heavens to Betsy, what are the odds?!”
We didn’t get that orange either.
I mean seriously, have you ever just dropped an orange out in the world? In November? I think I do most of my fruit-carrying walks in nicer weather, but maybe I am quirky in that. Maybe it is a November thing. November doesn’t have too much going for it, so maybe that is a thing in the + column.
I put a lot of ingredients in the cranberry sauce and it pretty much tastes like it came from a can.
Yes but if it came out of a can, there would be the rings on it and more solid of cranberries. Like a jello. Also, many cranberry sauce recipes call for an orange. I think it was a sign that you missed. Lol
You’re right! Definitely a sign!
