It all started with an eggamuffin

Today was just a terrific day. We were in Eau Claire for the chamber orchestra. Yesterday, I had the clever realization that we could go to Wissota High Shores supper club for dinner before the concert. Duh. The place opens at 4 and the concert starts at 7:30.

In planning the day, I thought we should eat breakfast, then nothing until dinner at 4:00. Keith agreed and went right out and got me an eggamuffin this morning. Having an eggamuffin delivered to you while you are still lying in bed playing games on your phone is pretty special.

After his morning rehearsal, we went to Menards to look at tile bits for planning redoing Benjamin and Sean’s bathroom. I went to the light department. Menards has always been the leader of lights of the big box DIY stores, but they have reallllllly upped their game. There were soooo many lights. I walked all around and admired them. I wondered where I could put new lights. I wondered what the lights in my house looked like. Keith joined me and he looked at all of the vanity lights. As we segued into the sconces, he paused and said, “This one is great. How cool is that?” I was so glad, because it was the one I picked out. It looked like a bunch of plumbing pipes, including a turny deal, made into a light. I have no idea where someone would put such a thing, but it is great. We agreed that it would awesome if the turny deal was a dimmer, or at least an on and off switch. We spent a lot of time (we did have the whole afternoon to kill) admiring and imagining. As we were walking out, I did my usual light on fire thing, so I took off my coat to be outside in the cold, windy day. He sat in the car while I walked around and got cooled off. I am going to miss winter so much.

Next, we went to the student union to kill a couple hours. As usual when we visit on a Saturday, we were the only people in the building. Keith took a nap in one of the oversized booths, and I researched what is playing in the West End (London theater district) when we will be there in July. We have two free nights that we can see shows. We saw Groundhog Day and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and An Evening with Ian McKellen there previously, and each were so stellar and so special – it makes the bar pretty high for this trip. I have picked Two Strangers Carrying A Cake Across New York so far. It is such fun to look up all about the shows I have never heard of. We researched riding the train through the Chunnel and it made it feel really real – like that is going to happen!

Then there was dinner. SALAD BAR! I made the best salad! Twice! I always put everything on my plate, but today I was more judicious. I left off the stuff I always have at home. They had dressing in squeezy bottles, so you could lightly dress your salad all over. They had spready cheese and butterfly crackers. I had 7, then three more for dessert. The steak, potato, mushroom soup was delicious. My filet was perfect. I had strawberries and grapes from the salad bar for dessert. Glorious eating.

Tom and Louise came for the concert! They are so supportive of Keith’s playing and we both really appreciate it. The concert featured all women composers. There was one small group piece that we did not care for – it was screechy and weird – but the rest of the concert was just wonderful. I was really glad, because Tom and Louise drove all the way there.

We went to Alexander’s house when we got back to Minnesota. He is gone LARPing in Illinois this weekend, so we wanted to check on the kitties. They didn’t need anything, but we gave them loves and squeezes and played toys with them.
