A new not-soprano cornet arrived in the mail today. Or in the UPS. Or in the FedEx. I wasn’t here, but the man getting the new toy was. As with all of his toys, I got it for him. 🙂

Oooooo….. Oooooo…. Oooooo….. And it looks really nice, too! Even tuba players appreciate this. Hope it sounds as good as it looks!
Sounded good to me. Apparently it feels wonderful to hold and is in tune and easy to play, too. Now, I’ll have to check to see if it dispenses treats as well…
It does sound great! My old cornet has a very nice sound, but this one is even better (and far more consistent from note to note, which is definitely an issue on the old one).
Also, it plays very smoothly. It has MAW valves (https://www.mawvalve.com), which improve several things, but slurs that skip partials (especially those that change fingering too) become particularly nice.
