Magic Kingdom Day

There is a virtual queue that you have to try to get into by mashing a button on your phone exactly at 7am. They give a group number and you show up during the day when they call your group. Keith got us in group 2, which takes a lot of the wondering out of what time our group might get called. Resort guests get in a half hour early and we were doing great this morning – out the door before 7:30, 7:32 bus, zooming along until we triggered the metal detectors going into the park. We waited 25 minutes in the extra security line, watching hundreds of people stream into the park in front of us. A bit irritating. When we left in the afternoon for a nap, there was no one coming in, so Keith went around twice, trying to figure out what was triggering the alarm. It is our glasses cases. The metal hinge throws off the metal detector. Apparently we have super de duper hinges, because no one else was having that issue. (yes, whine whine whine) Anyway, I am taking my sunglasses in a washcloth in a cup tomorrow.

We rode the new Tron coaster. The “seats” are interesting. I thought I had to hold on with my hands, which made it hard to look up to see the coaster. Keith said he was holding on and realized his view was limited, so he just let go and sat back to look. I wish I had thought of that. Next time.

The wait times were pretty high, even though the articles we keep seeing say no one is at Disney World. I assure you there are people here. BUT, we were walking in after our naptime, and I said, “look, no one is actually here,” and took a picture with no one in it. Huh.

After lunch, the kids said they wanted to get pixie dust. We went to Sir Mickey’s store and asked, and lo and behold, I was sprinkled with pixie dust. I was shocked they knew something I didn’t know, and Maren accurately explained, “You have no girls.” When we walked out, I got my first real look at the castle since the 50th anniversary had it painted pink and added gold bits. Pretty lovely.

The internet is not letting me type more than a couple words at a time and adding pictures is very frustrating. We had a great day – it was hot, but we savored the AC. When I woke up from my nap, I was cold and couldn’t have been happier. Our room is chilled like a meat locker. Heart emoji Heart emoji Heart emoji

We skipped fireworks and got on Ariel, Pan, Haunted Mansion, Jungle cruise, and Pirates. We were the only ones in the Peter Pan line and spent some time playing with all the fun bits they have in the line that you can never do because everyone is in a hurry. I ended the night playing in the tiki gods fountain and got soaked. WhoooHoooo!
