Bluegrass tonight!

I feel like I can’t just say, “They were great!” because I say that a lot. But they were. They played a lot of original music, and I am not one to like something right off the bat. It often takes me awhile to warm up to new music, but I really enjoyed everything they played tonight. They said they were going to play one more tune before intermission and I was boggled that a whole hour had passed. I kinda wanted to buy all of their CDs. And a T-shirt.

Keith told me not only were they fun to listen to and to watch, but they were really, really good musicians. He said other more specific music man words like time and something and a blahdiddyblah and I nodded. When we were getting a drink (of water) in the lobby, the mandolin player was chatting with people near us. I said, “Go over and talk to him.” Keith did not. Because he is Keith. I did not because I am me. We are not going-over-to-talk-ers. Apparently, the mandolin player is, because he came over to talk to us. I was wearing a Disney shirt and he came over to compliment me. He said he is a huge Disney fan and has a lot of his house decorated in Disney. I said so did we, and then Keith said time and something and blahdiddyblah and the mandolin player said that was wonderful to hear from a fellow musician. He told us some stories and we were the most special ones in the lobby and that is nice.

After the show, I just sat in my seat and looked them up on their website while Keith talked to the mandolin player again. They have a Christmas show. I don’t think they get closer than 40 miles away, but I’ll go that far for a funtivity.

  1. I spent a lot of time listening to this kind of music when I was growing up. The banjo player looks like Earl Scruggs. With good musicians who have great ears, this is pretty spectacular stuff. You guys would probably enjoy hearing recordings of Flatt and Scruggs Foggy Mountain Breakdown – pretty amazing!

    1. Keith’s mom was a big bluegrass fan, so he also grew up listening to it. Keith was going to request Foggy Mountain Breakdown during the request portion of the show. I was going to say the banjo player was my favorite, then I realized everyone was my favorite.
