Mowing: A full contact sport

Once a time ago, on a hot summer morning, I went for a bike ride. I wore a helmet. I came home and decided to mow the lawn because I was already hot and sweaty (and didn’t yet live at a house with a pool). I mowed the big side yard, then started the smaller front yard. As I continued making concentric squares toward the tree in the center of the yard, I bumped my head on a low branch. That’s when I realized I was still wearing my bike helmet! I really hope someone drove by and laughed at my heightened safety.

Today, it took a long time to get motivated enough to get out there and mow. I got my headphones and lawn mowing shoes and put my sunglasses on my head, because it isn’t very bright in our house. I went out and got mowing. Things were going fine until I got close to the tree in the front yard (not the new, little tree – it behaved just fine). The big tree is VERY hang-y down-y and has thick foliage and was attacking me. I was literally tangled up in the branches when my sunglasses fell onto the ground. Mmm. I seem to have put my glasses on before leaving the house and mowed almost the whole lawn with my glasses on and my sunglasses on my head.

Lawn mowing must really take all my brain power.
