Our second Vegas hotel is on the other end of the strip, and you can see New York, New York from our place. I have never been there, so I read about it and was very interested to go. Their “food court” is designed like being in old New York (or now New York – what do I know?). It was about a 15-minute walk, including strolling through the MGM Grand (which is apparently the largest single hotel in the world with 5000 rooms. I can’t figure it out, because Caesar’s Palace looks absolutely huge, but has only 4000 rooms. The Wynn has about 180,000 sq feet of gaming space…)
We walked on a bridge from the MGM to NYNY and looked at the Strip in the daytime.
The first place we went in NYNY was the Hershey store. It smelled really good. There were very good-looking treats in the bakery case. The candy was so, so expensive. Why? There’s a Walgreens a block away; I could get a candy bar there. They had a licorice Statue of Liberty, a chocolate Statue of Liberty, and I’ll add the one from outside.
They also had cute purses.
The view of the gaming floor came next.
Then we found the super cute restaurants. There were so many crisscrossing streets it was like really walking around a neighborhood with a lot of great restaurants. I loved it. I love a pretend world 🙂
After all the walking around the neighborhood, we followed a street outside to the park. There was a restaurant called Top Round that had roast beef sandwiches, and we ended up choosing to eat there! You just never know. My sandwich of beef, mushrooms, provolone, and horseradish sauce was absolutely delicious. I would eat it again tomorrow.
We went for a super treat of Haagen Daas sundaes next. Keith had banana split and I had bananas and caramel. Soooo good.
We walked back. There was a construction wall and I was peeking in. There were lots of piles of rocks, or concrete, that they were grinding up. I found it very interesting.
We headed to the airport. We were listening to the end of our audio book – The Neuroscientist who lost her mind. We sat in the lounge (too full to eat the food!!), then got on the plane. I slept an hour, then watched the Transformers origin story (Transformers One?), then a bit of Mulan, and then we were home.
