No party

My sister turned 60 today. Wooooo. It’s about time. 🙂 Seems like the rest of us have been on this side of that number for quite a while. I assumed we would have a party, because there should always be a party. She did not agree. No party. She didn’t want to have a thing. I wondered what kind of party she thought we would be having…brothers, sisters, and a cake was my plan. So, we decided not to come.

My friends told me that they wouldn’t want a party, but they would want me to come. Huh. Okay. So we planned to go. Or not. I wasn’t sure. I decided we should go. I finally started working on a card that I have been thinking about for almost a year. I made it on Thursday. We decided to go Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, my other sister’s kitty got very, very sick and had to zoom to the vet last night. The vet determined Emmett had a large tumor and fluid around his lungs and he was very sick and really couldn’t go home, ever. It was so sad for everything to happen so quickly, but the vet was sure that pain was only going to increase and there was nothing else to do. She was very, very compassionate and made everyone as comfortable as possible. It was as nice as such a terrible time could be. We were very glad we were already coming down, because losing your kitty is worst and you need company.

We went to see the birthday girl, and all of her kids were there! The one from Dallas flew in to surprise her! What a funness. The kids (“kids”) went to the store for beverages and returned with the weirdest and most perfect beer for Donna. What are the chances!? Her friends across the street recycled a birthday sign in the night last night.

It wasn’t a party. We said over and over it wasn’t a party. We got take out. Everyone looked at my card and we told stories about things on the card, and then stories related to those stories, then more stories. It was lovely fun. But it wasn’t a party.
