Not all for me

I really like cherry candy. I think cherry lifesavers are my favorite candy. Except for cherry licorice. Or caramels that I make.

Anyway, Brach’s makes these cherry hearts that come out around Valentine’s Day. Or should I say way before Valentine’s day, because if you wait until you think of Valentine’s Day, they are all gone. I looked at Walgreen’s while we were buying candy prizes for my birthday party. They were sold out. I figured that was okay, because I didn’t really NEED them. They are candy. Not necessaries.

Until today. Today I thought they might be necessary. I mean, ya know. They aren’t coming back until next year. That is a while to wait. I cleverly shopped online for them. I checked different Walgreens around the area. Cottage Grove said it had one bag. Mmm. I do not think they really did. Inver Grove said two bags. Mmm. Not enough for them to do a pick-up order and reserve them for me. You have to spend $10. Grand Ave said they had three bags.

I realized I was considering buying THREE BAGS of candy for myself. Mmm. Not a good idea. I walked away.

I walked upstairs.

I said, “Maybe we should order three bags of candy for pick-up at the Walgreens on Grand Avenue in St. Paul.”

Of course, Keith said we should. And he did.

We took a nap. When we woke up, it said our order was ready, but it was only one bag. I felt good about one bag.

But really? We were going to drive 8.8 miles to get a bag of candy? That seems wholly ridiculous. Keith said it was not ridiculous, put on his shoes, and left.

Wow. That man is really, really, really nice.

I was working on packing (IN ADVANCE! WHAT? I know. Unbelievable). I went down to grab some things and he walked in the door. It had been less than half an hour. He was holding FOUR bags of candy. What was happening!?!

“I went to CVS in Woodbury. They were even on sale – buy one, get one half price. They had four bags. I bought them all. I am surprising you!”

He WAS surprising me! Yay! I know just who I am going to give the other bags to. Valentine surprises!
